Jõulupuu – Saturday, December 17, 2011 On the afternoon of Saturday, December 17, 2011 the Montreal Estonian Pensioners Club and the MES Kindergarten joined forces to celebrate the Christmas season with their annual “Jõulupuu”. Santa had his hands full (literally!) with the young and young at heart. The lack of snow was no match against the hearty singing, delicious food and splendid company. Christmas is here! Häid pühi! |

Karl, Hilda & Viive Pruuli Buried In Estonia The burial of Karl, Hilda and Viive Pruuli took place on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011 at 3:00 pm local time at the Tartu Pauluse Kalmistu, in Tartu, Estonia There were 30 guests at the funeral, all friends and relatives of the Pruuli and Nukk families. The Lutheran Pastor spoke extensively at the grave side, then Eda Merisalu said a few words in Estonian and Cuno Bergner a few words in English. Karl’s nephew Tonu Mauring had made it possible for the Canadian Pruuli family to be buried beside Karl’s mother (Rosalie Pruuli) and sister (Taehte Mauring). Karl and Hilda were born in Vana-Kuste, south of Tartu almost 100 years ago and now the circle is complete. They are back where they belong. May they rest in peace. |

MES ‘Verivorstid’ Photo Caption Contest

HonHeeHonHee Debut Album HonHeeHonHee, a Montreal indy band (with Matt Raudsepp on bass, guitar and vocals), make contagious whooping rock with an incurable fervour. Their energetic live show builds a wall of vocals upon which members bounce from instrument to instrument frequently throughout their set. This year, the band has showcased at festivals such as NXNE, Sled Island, Pop Montreal and Halifax Pop Explosion. Their debut album. Shouts, was just released and is available on iTunes and Bandcamp.
